In the beginning

So… first, this feels right. starting a card company, I mean. I have been making cards for my entire existence.

I remember as a very young child modifying Christmas cards into get well cards for my great grandmother (now that was a trick!) I remember being proud of pouring my heart and good wishes into the card and ultimately the envelope to give to her. I wanted it to carry the power of healing her heart and body. For me, giving her a card was giving her love.

I was recently reminded of this when my granddaughter made me a card for my birthday. It was pretty wonderful too. She is a creative girl- and pours so much love into each thing she creates, but for me it was about her taking the time, the pride in her sparkling eyes and sweet smile as she handed it to me.

I have been making cards, even professionally for some time. In the very early days, I used pretty paper, I would draw on them with whatever amazing pens I had handy and I would even embellish the envelope. Perhaps people humored me, or perhaps my friends are just generous, but I felt warm when the reaction to a card I created came a few days after dropping it in the postbox. To take the time seemed to be the theme.

I even had one friend say to me, “Please don’t ever buy me another card-  I only want yours!”

I love the idea that my art and my poetry will now be a part of accessible “love in an envelope” to send for every conceivable reason! I love the idea of thoughtfulness, humor and art pouring out of me to celebrate every. single day.

So- launching Greetings 4 Good is a dream come true. It is a way to utilize my talents into a positive and accessible opportunity. There WILL be sweet and sentimental, there will be snarky (I call them my 3 am cards- you know when the filters have worn off for the day- but not TOO snarky; I wouldn’t want my mom to be angry with me)  and a host of cards in between.

I LOVE getting a card in the mail, don’t you?

My goal in 2017 will be to create a website for you to order your cards on. I have LOTS of work to do, but I am actually pretty excited to do it.

Remember me if you are in need of a card- You will be not only supporting an artist with big dreams, but you will be sending a little bit of love in an envelope.

with love and peace-

Susan
