Today is the 10th anniversary of Greetings 4 Good.
Ten years. That feels worth saying out loud.
There was no big party, no balloons, no champagne, no elaborate anniversary celebration. While I am a big fan of celebrating milestones, I am actually okay with that…
I spent the day at the Purple Door, sharing the work that has become such a meaningful part of my life. I talked about my decks, the messages inside them, why I make them and, perhaps most importantly, why I believe so deeply in the simple act of uplifting another person.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, it occurred to me: this is how I am celebrating ten years.
By doing the work.
Greetings 4 Good began with a simple idea: what if the things we send to one another could carry a little more love? What if an ordinary card could make someone stop for a moment and smile, or a piece of original art could find its way into someone’s home and make them feel remembered?
That little idea has grown and changed over the years, but the heart of it has remained the same. I believe in kindness, in encouragement, and in the ability of art to carry a message that sometimes words alone cannot. Most of all, I believe we have the ability to put a little more good into the world.
That belief is also at the heart of my affirmation decks.
The decks have become much more than a product for me. They are part of my mission. I create them because I know what it feels like to need a little encouragement, to have someone in your corner reminding you to keep going, that you matter, that you can do this, that there is still good here.
So I put those messages into cards, surround them with my artwork, and send them out into the world.
Maybe one lands in the hands of someone having a difficult day. Maybe someone draws a card in the morning and carries those words with them. Maybe someone gives a card to a friend who needs it more than they do. Maybe it creates one tiny ripple of kindness that I will never know about.
And I’m okay with that. Actually, I love that.
We don’t always get to see where the good we put into the world ends up.
Ten years ago, I couldn’t have known where this little idea would take me. I couldn’t have imagined all the cards, people, conversations, artwork, lessons, beautiful surprises and hard work that would come along with it.
And I certainly couldn’t have predicted that ten years later I’d be standing at the Purple Door, tired to my bones, talking about why I make things that I hope will make someone else feel a little better.
But here I am.
Still doing the work, still believing in the power of a little encouragement, and still sending a little love out into the world.
So tonight, there isn’t much fanfare. There is probably going to be a very early bedtime.
But there is a smile.
Because ten years is something to smile about.
Thank you to everyone who has bought a card, sent a card, received a card, carried one in your purse, put one on your refrigerator, shared one with a friend, stocked my work in your shop, encouraged me, supported my art, or simply believed in what I was trying to do.
You have been part of these ten years, and I am incredibly grateful.
Here’s to the next little ripple. To more art, more encouragement, more kindness, more love in the mail, and more good.
Ten years of Greetings 4 Good.
Not a bad little anniversary at all. 💜
