-cheerleader in a box (or envelope)
Recently, I applied for an art show that asked for something deceptively simple: my origin story. Why do I do what I do?
It stopped me in my tracks.
Somewhere between making art, teaching workshops, packing orders, and dreaming up new ideas, I realized I hadn’t visited that question in a long time. But when I did, I found something waiting for me there. Not just the answer, but a renewed sense of purpose… and a surprising amount of joy.
Greetings4Good.org was born from a belief that words matter. Encouragement matters. Small moments of connection matter. I have always believed that a single thoughtful message can shift a day, soften a hard moment, or remind someone that they are not alone.
What began as greeting cards grew into something more. Again and again, I heard how much people needed encouragement not just once in a while, but regularly. Not just on holidays or special occasions, but on ordinary Tuesdays when the sky feels heavy and the to-do list is long.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something else: I am happiest when I am cheering people on.
There is something deeply exhilarating about stepping fully into that role. About embracing authenticity instead of holding back. About saying, “Yes, this is who I am. I am someone who believes in encouragement. I am someone who believes in creativity. I am someone who believes in you.”
In many ways, Greetings4Good has become exactly that – a cheerleader in a box. (or envelope) A small but steady voice of encouragement arriving right when it’s needed most.
My affirmation decks were a new step from my greeting cards. They offer encouragement and love in a physical form without I love both!
Lately, that idea has been growing into something new. Something I’ve been quietly working on and nurturing behind the scenes. A way to bring encouragement into everyday life in a more consistent and meaningful way.
On March 2, I’ll be sharing something special: Affirmation Letters.
These letters are a natural extension of everything Greetings4Good has always been about — encouragement, creativity, and connection. Each one is designed to feel personal, thoughtful, and uplifting. Like a note from a friend who truly wants to see you thrive.
Creating them has reminded me why I started all of this in the first place.
And I have to say, rediscovering that “why” has been exhilarating.
There is a kind of energy that comes from being authentic. From creating something that feels aligned and true. From recognizing that the things that light us up inside are often the very things we are meant to share.
Revisiting my origin story didn’t just help me write an application. It helped me reconnect with the heart of my work.
Encouragement.
Creativity.
Connection.
Hope.
And maybe most of all – the simple but powerful act of reminding people that they matter.
March 2 feels less like a launch and more like a beginning. A new chapter rooted in the same belief that started it all: that words have power, and kindness can ripple outward in ways we may never fully see.
I’m so excited to share what’s coming next.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply show up as ourselves – fully, honestly, and ready to cheer each other on.
Have a beautiful day- Thank you for being here…
Sending you so much love,
Susan
